Johnny's 1st Day of Kindergarten

After taking a 7 month hiatus from blogging ... I'm back to proudly announce that today was Johnny's 1st day of Kindergarten! Johnny is thrilled to be starting "big kid" school and has been counting the days off until the big day. He picked out a "fancy" outfit to look nice on the first day and all four of us ceremoniously walked him to school (which is across the street from our house). I videotaped this exciting milestone and joined the other parents in the cafeteria after dropping Johnny off in his classroom to share in the sniffles and pride of reaching this great day.

I'm sure at some point I'll feel sad about Johnny not being home all the time, but so far I am all smiles and happy for him and feeling excited about getting to this next step in his life.

First Cafeteria Lunch

Two other moms and I met our boys for lunch in the cafeteria today. We had a nice time together and Johnny managed to eat his lunch in the allotted 15 minutes, but the seating arrangements, clean up and getting ready to go back to class was fairly chaotic. I'm sure with time, they'll get a more clearly defined routine. Apparently, they only have 30 minutes to walk from class, go through the line, eat their lunch, and clean up. This will be a challenge for Johnny who is an infamously slow eater. Maybe this will help him stay more focused on eating at hom too!
